18 THINGS I'VE LEARNED DURING MY IMMERSION



"Nurses independently asses and monitor patients, and taking a holistic approach, determine what patients need to attain and preserve their health. Nurses are patient educators, responsible for explaining procedures and treatments. Nurses empower patients, guiding them toward  healthy behaviors and support them in the time of need".



1. If you are a nurse you should be caring
 ( The best nurses are those truly, and deeply, care for his/her patient).
2. If you are a nurse you should be hardworking
(You have to be passionate about what you do, and strive to be the best).
3. If you are a nurse you should be friendly to your patient, be organized, be emotionally stable, and etc.
4. Blood pressure (BP) 
(It is important to check your blood pressure because the higher your blood pressure is, the higher your risk of health problems in the future).
5. Proper hand washing
(It is important because washing your hands is the best way to stop germs spreading).
6. Vital signs 
*Process of taking vital signs*
Heart rate(60-100 beats per minute), Respiratory rate(12-18 breaths per minute), Blood pressure (90/60 to 120/80), Temperature (38 to 38.5°c).
(It is important because vital signs provide information that is vital for life).
7. Arranging Birth certificate alphabetically and by month
8. Cutting OS into small square
9. Making a container for medicines by using paper.
10. Lining a patients logbooks 
(Discharged logbook, Deliveries logbook, New born logbook, Admission logbook, Phil health logbook, and Referral logbook).
11. Getting weight of a baby in the weighing scale.
12. Filling up the headings of a patients record.
13. Arranging a papers of new born screening normal summary report.
14. How to measure the length of a baby
15. How to get the hearing test of a baby
(It is important to get the hearing test of a baby as soon as possible).
16. Prenatal care
(It is important because having a prenatal care is one of the best ways to promote a healthy birth).
17. How to measure the length of a baby during prenatal
18. How to give bath to a newborn baby
(but they don't need a bath everyday, as they don't get very dirty).
